Monument to Fallen Soldiers Unveiled

A monument honoring fallen members of the 155th Brigade Combat Team was unveiled at Camp Shelby Thursday.
28 names will be engraved on the statue. That includes 14 Mississippians who lost their lives during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Family members of the fallen men and women were on hand for the dedication.
Military officials say the monument represents the bravery of those who gave their lives to protect freedom.
"These people left service in freedom. I wish it was in their wills when the open them up after their death that their children read 'we bequeath to you freedom' because that's what they've done for us," says Major General Harold A. Cross.
The 155th Brigade Combat team served overseas from January 2005 to January 2006.
